“What do you do for a living”

“Oh, I am an Arborist.”

“A what now?”

“I care for trees”

Conversations like this happen almost daily for anyone in this line of work. I thought I would explain what an Arborist is and why you need one for your trees.

What an Arborist is

The International Society of Arboricultural (ISA) defines an arborist as a “professional who possesses the technical competence gained through experience and related training to provide for or supervise the management of trees and other woody plants in residential, commercial, and public landscapes.”

Now a certified arborist is one who has working experience in the field of trees and/or formal education in a related field. The certified arborist is someone “who has passed an independent exam administered by the ISA and maintains the credential through continuing education.” This testing and process is a 3 year process!

Currently The Singing Arborist has 1 Certified Arborist on staff, with another one studying everyday as their 3 year mark hits in March of 2024.

Why you need an Arborist

An Arborist is very good at 3 things and here at The Singing Arborist we are exceptional at these 3 things:

1- Tree pruning and Trimming

Pruning is an important part of tree care. it helps shape the tree structure, remove dead or diseased branches, and improves the overall health of the tree. All of this can only be achieved if the right cuts are made at the right places. An Arborist knows the proper way of trimming trees. They can help prevent irreversible pruning mistakes that could result in permanent tree damage. Working with an expert also minimizes the risk of killing healthy trees not only from over-trimming but also from neglect.

2-Tree Removal

Tree removal is performed to get rid of diseased, dying or already dead trees and those that pose a danger to property. IT is also necessary when the tree in question is blocking off other plants from receiving sunlight. We can help you decide whether a tree needs to be removed or not. In the case of diseased trees, we can facilitate the removal to make sure the trees are removed carefully to prevent the disease from spreading to other healthy trees and plants.

3- Tree Diagnosis and Treatment

Does your tree not look right? Or did you notice a tree with yellowing leaves way before it was fall? These indicators could be a sign that something is attacking your tree or it needs some attention. Calling us gives your tree a fighting chance on sticking around. Did you know that here in Utah most maple trees usually suffer from an Iron deficiency? We can fix that and we can do that without causing damage to the surrounding landscape.

This is what an Arborist is and why you need one. And it is our hope that The Singing Arborist is your number 1 call for all tree related issues now and in the future.
